Well, it appears I shall be the first new user on this forum in a while...and as far as I can tell..the only YX....but here I am and thus I shall bring forth my introduction. What is your username and why did you choose it? It's an amalgamation of my first initial and my last name plus the name of a country. My favorite country besides my home USA and the country in which I currently live. It's its name in their own language. I shall be a bit mysterious since the story I posted draws from this culture pretty heavily, but do a Google search of my name after rbrown and you shall find it soon enough. Although Jansina already knows. Who are some of your favorite authors? As I think I am the only XY...at least active...mine will differ markedly. I do like Lewis and Tolkein, although of late I have been into Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, and Scott Lynch. I do like Shakespeare, but more for his Sonnets. As for classical authors my favorite would have to be the man John Milton for exactly you guessed it, Paradise Lost. How did you find this forum? I know Jansina from another time and place, an acquaintance of long years past. I have been watching with entreprenurial excitement this project grow from the sidelines and wanted to join the community at some point. Well, here I am. What books do you like to read? I am all about Sci Fi, Fantasy (particularly epic fantasy since it makes excellent listening material on Audible), Steampunk, anything speculative. Plus non-fiction in the history/philosophy camp. I am currently listening to Antifragile: things that gain from disorder. Do you write? if so, tell us a bit about it! I do indeed, although not nearly as much as I would like. I have a sci-fi epic novel at about 35K with quite a bit more to go and a steampunk/alt history which I am actually posting here. One of my big reasons for joining the forum was to have a writers group that would see my work and thus be more motivated to write. What are some of your hobbies? Studying the language of the country in which I live (I have actually studied it since I was 14. Yes I can read, write, speak, and listen to it, and do in my daily life), listening to books, playing video games, hanging out with friends. What is your favorite color? What is your username and why did you choose it? Like a lot of the members, I found this forum through the Fairy Tale Novels forum, and this is my username there. Who are some of your favorite authors? Anyone who can make a good rhyme, a thrilling climax, a fascinating character, or a wise conversation. (In other words, I don't know, but these are the kinds of things I like to read.) How did you find this forum? I already mentioned it. Do you write? If so, tell us a bit about it! Yes! Well, I like to write poems, though for some reason I've had trouble finishing them lately; I write fanfiction (usually "one-shots" less than 2,000 words long), and /try/ to write original fiction, but rarely get far. (Hmm, this doesn't compliment my attention span at all . . .) What are some of your hobbies? Getting obsessed with Doctor Who (I don't even know /why/), trying to get unobsessed with it and failing, reading, philosophizing to myself, and daydreaming. What is your favorite color? Any shade of blue-green.

Welcome to Rivershore! I have to say that your Doctor Who obsession/hobby made me giggle. I love Doctor Who and definitely understand that description. If ever you want to obsess about it, feel free to PM me.

Hah, thanks! It's even weirder because I've only watched two full episodes, and creepy aliens aren't normally my thing. The Doctor's why I like that show (I said earlier, I like fascinating characters, and the Doctor's definitely that). I spend a lot more time at the FanFiction website and the Doctor Who wiki than I do actually watching the show.

Welcome, Elisabel! Who are you on FTN? I'm not a Doctor Who fan, but I do like the character of the Doctor, so I can definitely understand that! I keep wanting to watch more (I've only seen a couple episodes from...doctors #8 and #9) to see if it'll change my mind...
