Eli hobbled into the elevator, still a little unsteady on his crutches. He stopped as he saw people were singing. He looked for a way out, but the doors had already closed; he resigned himself to shuffling into a corner and being as unsociable as he could be.

(I'm still a little unsteady with Eli.. I usually write him from first person perspective, so it should be fun transferring it to third person.
