Music, one of the greatest things in the world. If you play or if you have a favorite artist tell us about it!

I love music! I play the piano, mainly. And I sing, when there aren't people around to hear it... and hum when there are. I was in choir for something like 10 years. I miss that. I also learned the flute, and was in band at the middle school for about a year. I never mastered the art of breathing, though, (haha!) so playing it still gives me a headache. And, because I'm slightly ambitious but not entirely, I taught myself the violin, the guitar, and the harp...and just as quickly dropped them all. (The harp and guitar are my mom's. She also has an accordion, and one of these days I'm going to figure out that contraption!) I love the violin, but haven't figured out how to play without screeching horribly, so it's not fun for anyone to listen to yet. The harp is fairly simple...I just need to actually sit down with it more. And the guitar I stopped because it was hurting my fingers and, okay, I'm a bit of a wuss. But piano I've played since I was about 5 years old, and I love it. I took lessons until I reached a point where I could pick up just about any song and play it through the first time I saw it...that was always my goal. Now I play just for fun.

Let's see . . . my favorite singers include Andrea Bocelli, Jim Croce, and (as most of you know haha), Taylor Swift. I also like instrumental music, especially awesome movie soundtracks!!

I can play the piano. I have to have heard the song before hand though, in order to be able to play it. Unless it's super easy, then I can pick it up. But I'm not very good, and I cannot perform for people or have someone sing a long to the song, or else I mess up. I took violin for 3 years when I was younger, and was even in an orchestra with my sister. But when we stopped going for lessons at the school, I stopped playing because I wasn't as good as my sister. I absolutely love the violin, and tried taking it up again on my own, but that didn't happen. I tried guitar, but my fingers are super short and weren't flexible enough for me to get the cords. As for singers...I love Rascal Flatts, Emerson Drive, Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band....lots of country. I also listen to a lot of songs from the TV show Glee. They do some really great covers!

I can play a little bit of Piano, but so far my music reading skills are, to say the least, horrible. I have never taken any lessons though, I just teach myself. I also teach myself violin and guitar. So far violin is my favorite, though I can't play without some screeching yet. (I've only been playing for 4 months though.) I like to write little songs and sing a lot. If you were to come to my house-you would most likely hear me singing at random times.

I played flute for 7 1/2 years but gave it up when my school stopped offering band. I played once (as in, one time) this semester and was happy to learn that I could remember the fingerings, so I'm hoping to pick it up again soon music..... there are too many to name, but some of my favorites are Rascal Flatts, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Inna (don't watch her music videos, but the music itself is good!), Idina Menzel, Selena Gomez..... just to name a few

So, I have a few songs/CDs/Artists that influence my writing. I absolutely can't wait to write something while listening to this song. I have a playlist of Brian Crane's music (and a few others, like the song I played there.) The link is hereThere's one song I'd like to draw your attention to, it sounds like an creepy carnival/folk song. Here it is. One CD that really inspires me for my story "The Bomb" is Linkin Park's "A Thousand Suns." They have the full CD non-stop on youtube. I also enjoy Mumford and Sons, Panic! at the Disco, Ellie Goulding, The Band Perry, The Pierces, and Florence + The Machine. INNA!!! I love her and Alexandra Stan!!! Marvelous Romanians! Have you heard Avicii or Tiesto? I love house music too, but most wouldn't know who the artists are

Tiesto is one of my favorite artists, ever (Avicii is pretty great, too). And I've been a fan of Ellie Goulding ever since she did a collaboration with Skrillex. By the way, Antoinette, if you like Inna, you might like Mia Martina. I compose classical/jazz/electronic music in my spare time, as well as play piano. One of my compositions, a partially dubstep/metal inspired soundtrack, I uploaded here. As for artists/music that I like, it's all electronic for me. Jean Michel Jarre was my introduction to it; his music is a sort of blend between electro-accoustic and ambient. Chronologie 6 demonstrates his style very well, I think. And then there's a lot of dance music that I listen to, like what Tiesto, Skrillex, Wolfgang Gartner, and Knife Party do. See? This is what you get when you talk about music around me. You'll know better next time.

I've been brought up with music my entire life, so not playing/singing/listening to it would be entirely foreign to me. (You can't exactly escape doing some sort of music when both your parents are music teachers. ) I play violin semi-seriously and doodle around on the piano with some interludes of practicing seriously. I was brought up listening to classical music and classical music ONLY, so the whole musical world is still fairly new to me (I've only delved out of classical in the past 2-3 years.) I guess my favourite style is sort of indie/rock/pop. I love artists like Regina Spektor and Kimbra, while bands like Arctic Monkeys and Blue October are my go-to bands. (There are many many more, but I'm just too lazy to write them out. ) Also, my brother is in a band. They just released a CD. They're awesome. Check them out.(Also, The Cat Empire is awesome. Just saying. Because Australia is cool and has cool artists. )
