OKAY, this thread needs some serious revival! Elly, I don't suppose you happen to remember that one idea you had that you really wanted to do here but couldn't yet because you were gone so you decided to wait to post it?

I agree, Alaia! Some serious revival is about to unfold. I say we do a character fair at a... Library!!

Oooh, I will! Claire walked into the library. Contrary to what she had always read about, there didn't seem to be any "Keep Quiet" rules and there were people talking freely with eachother, and she could see people sitting at tables huddled over books, reading intently. She had never been to a library, and somehow this wasn't quite what she expected.

Rose strolled into the library, her usual pile of books stacked in her hands. "Is that all?" Ambrose, her husband, asked. His face showed mild amusement. Rose rolled her eyes and looked around. There were some people with their nose stuck in books, and other who were talking seriously. Rose breathed in deeply. She could almost smell the wonderful adventures and learning in here.

(Awesome! Thanks for getting this going again, Alaia! I was going to start it up again before NaNo started, but things got hectic and they haven't really slowed down. Once November's over, though, I hope to start a new one every couple of weeks. )

Loki materialized inside of the building rather by accident. But once he took in his surroundings, a genuine grin of delight twisted his lips madly. Secure in the knowledge that no one there could see him, he set off to start browsing. There were, after all, quite a few things he was curious about.

She walked in and was surprised at the chatter. To her libraries were a place of rest and peace. This one was more of a social hangout it seemed. Kateri wasn't sure if she liked it, but there were new adventures here. She glanced about and forgot to look where she was going. She managed to walk right into someone, "Oh, I am so sorry!"

Claire felt someone bump into her, and she almost fell down but managed to keep her balance. Her first instinct was to yell at the person who had bumped into her, but two things stopped her. The first was that even though it was a louder than usual library, it was still a library and she didn't want to make a bunch of noise. The other thing was that she saw that the girl was her own age, and she looked so sorry that Claire knew that she would feel mean if she yelled at the girl.
"It's fine," she said instead, "I should have been looking around more."

(jump right in, Michelle! ) Kateri smiled apologetically, "Every day I wish I was not so clumsy," she shrugged, "I'm Kateri, by the way."

(Yes, definitely! Sorry, I didn't see your post ) "My name's Claire," she said. "I'm here waiting for my... well, my employer's wife to be finished with her errands." She saw Kateri's confused look and shrugged. "It's kind of complicated." (Hehe, I actually put in a library scene thingy in my novel )

Kateri nodded. Life was always complitcated, no matter who you talked to. The world seemed set against anyone having an easy life. "Nice to meet you, Claire!" she said, "I'm just here to find some good books to read. Do you have any recommendations?"

Claire shrugged again. "Not really. I haven't really been here that much, this is only my second time here. The last time I came I picked up this book off the shelf called..." she hesitated, trying to remember the name of the book. Since she didn't have a library card she hadn't checked out the book. Then she remembered. "Oh yeah, it was called The Shadow of The Bear. It was about two girls in New York who got caught up in a murder mystery."

"A murder mystery?" She did not like those. Her life was enough of one. She tried ot keep her voice from faltering, "That sounds neat," in truth, it did. Maybe after the chaos was over she could read it, "I'll have to check it out." Kateri gave a noncommittal shrug, "Do you read much?"
