The Hobbit doesn't drag in the least (the book, not the movie). It's fast paced and amazing and wonderful and GO READ IT NOOOOOOW. (He first wrote it as a story for his kids so it's an extremely fun read. Much less of the fifty-pages-to-describe-this-tree thing he does in LOTR (though LOTR is epic and amazing and epic.) BUT GO READ IT.) 50 pages to describe this tree? Whaaaat? Are you sure you aren't confusing LotR and the Silmarillion? LotR can be called many things, but never slow-paced. Ever. Now go sit in the corner and think about what you've just said. *cries and hides* SORRY. sorry. I just find tolkein a little longwinded. Sometimes. Hardly ever. His poetry is delightful, too. And I'm not calling it 'slow-paced,' per se. At all. (yes, I see how the statements can be contradictory.) It's just: I have completely forgotten whether I ever read the whole of the Lord of the Rings. I think I have, but every time I go to pick it up, I skip to my favourite parts. (I'm a horrible reader, I know.) So I'm not even sure I'm qualified to state whether it's slow paced or not (IT'S NOT IT'S NOT NOT WHAT I WAS SAYING), but I think I might be. Tolkein is a writer who is longwinded, but not slow paced. ..that post made no sense. anyway, bringing this slightly back on topic with a keyboard smash: saadsghjkadshjgkasdhjgkdashjgkasdhgjASHJGSHJGKDASGHJKADSJGHASDGHJASDJHGADSHJGADHJDGAADSHGJADSHJGDSAHGJASDHGAGHJADSGHASDJGHASDHJGADSJGHKADSJGHKDASFSGRKJKHDGBVDSJHKGCSHJGADJHKAS. Les Mis, guys. Les Mis. Best freaking movie of the year. I cried. A lot. And some more. It was just so - so real, and genuine, and heartbreaking. sadjhdsakhjdaskhjdsadahjs. (anna is coherent, no?)

Sorry, but for some reason this seems relevant: 'Yooou aaaarrreeee... a cinemaaaa.... I can wwaatch you foreeeverrrr.... etc etc etc bass drop and stuff'
I just watched the Hobbit. Wow. That was insane. I'm glad I watched LotR first though (well, the first half of LotR; we haven't done the whole trilogy yet). All sorts of little references that I only caught because I just saw the Fellowship of the Ring. Also, I was surprised at how funny the Hobbit was. I was giggling and laughing and chortling during at least 50% of the movie, I swear. Martin Freeman's a good actor.
@anna: What. Did I just read? Excuse me while I get a literary exorcism.

ET, I wrote that at two in the morning. Lesson to Anna. Don't write anything at two in the morning.
What I was essentially trying to say is that Tolkein can be longwinded without being slow paced.

I got what you were saying, Anna. Martin Freeman was amazing! They couldn't have picked anyone better to play Bilbo. And I'm really happy with how light-hearted, yet dangerous/dark they were able to make it.

I agree whole heartedly with Mr. Enpassent and Ozzie. My sister was saying to me when she saw it that she was surprised at how funny it was, and that's what I thought to. I love it when Gandalf relieves tension with his humor, and Martin Freeman was the bestest Bilbo ever.

So, anyone planning to see any cool movies soon? Or have seen any cool movies recently? I personally can't wait to see "Catching Fire".

It's hysterical. And Bryce reminds me of Jonathan. Like THE Jonathan. In some ways, at least
