Anyone here read Freckles by Gene Stratton Porter? That's one of my favorites...it's just such a sweet story!

It's about a young man who meets a girl and gets a job working for her and her father...it's been a long time since I read it (I shall have to amend that pretty soon), but I just remember absolutely loving it. There's also a sequel of sorts, Girl of the Limberlost, which is also good...though Freckles is what really captured my heart.

My grandma's favorite childhood book was Girl of the Limberlost. I've never read it though...

You should read them both! I have lovely antique copies of them, which make them just that much better. But of course the story itself is what's so good.

Ah! I think Neri read them... it might be a different series I'm thinking of with her, though. My grandma gave me the first two for Easter.

I just finished The Graveyard Book. I must say, Neil Gaiman, you are a genius. No one else I've read has quite managed the art of miss-mashing so many fairy tales and old ideas and come out with such a wonderfully new product.

I've only read Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I'll have to look into getting The Graveyard Book. I've just started reading The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. It's pretty good so far.

I haven't read anything by him...though I've SEEN Stardust. Methinks I have to add more books to my already-far-too-long "to read" list... What is The Lost Hero about?

It's pretty good. There is a scene at the beginning which is quite um...descriptive, that could very easily be passed over. Other than that, it's good. It's a series that comes after the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, about demigod children and the adventures they end up having. Lots of Greek/Roman mythology and this all happens in the modern world.
